A few years ago I discovered that there was a congressman in Georgia named Paul Broun. Which was odd since I had gone my whole life as a Broun, and had never met another soul with the same last name. Didn't give it much thought other than, huh, that's cool that there's a Broun congressman out there.

Until last week, when Rep. Broun made national headlines for being an insane moron. He was talking about Obama's suggestion of creating a civilian corps that could handle some of the nation-building tasks now being performed by the military. Broun said:

That's exactly what Hitler did in Nazi Germany, and it's exactly what the Soviet Union did. When he's proposing to have a national security force that's answering to him, that is as strong as the U.S. military, he's showing me signs of being Marxist.

Excuse me, but did he just compare Obama to HITLER? I believe he did. OMG. Or as my friend Shelby would say, ZOMG. (ZOOM OHMYGOD, with the zoom providing extra emphasis.)

Clearly the guy is a complete and total douchenozzle. In fact, this article describes Broun as "the Cynthia McKinney of the GOP," and that actually seems charitable to me. Point being, I most certainly do not enjoy sharing Broun with him (I kept it as my middle name when I got married). So I wanted to make it abundantly clear that this nutbag is no relation to me or anyone else in my family.
